Where can I find the dimensions of a light fixture?

Dimensions are provided on each product page, in the dimensional drawing and the technical specifications.

Check the height, width, diameter and, depending on the model, the depth or cable length. This information will help you determine whether the light fixture is suitable for your intended location.

How can I tell if a light fixture is dimmable?

A dimmable light fixture allows you to adjust the brightness to suit your needs.

Look for the “Dimmable” indication in the product specifications. The ability to adjust brightness depends on the light source, its power supply and the control system used.

If you are unsure, please provide us with the product reference and the model of your dimmer before placing your order.

Can I dim a wall light with a replaceable bulb?

This may be possible if the manufacturer allows it and all components of the installation are compatible:

  • A dimmable bulb suitable for the socket and technical specifications of the light fixture.
  • A compatible dimmer switch, particularly one designed for LED bulbs.
  • A compatible power supply or transformer, if required.

A standard light switch only turns the light on and off. To adjust brightness, a suitable dimming control is required.

The presence of a bulb socket does not automatically mean that the wall light can be used with a dimmer.

Can I make a light fixture with integrated LEDs dimmable?

Only if the fixture has been designed to support dimming. Both the LED module and its power supply, known as the LED driver, must be compatible with dimming technology.

The control system must match the technology specified by the manufacturer, such as phase-cut dimming, DALI, 1–10 V or another compatible system.

Installing a wall dimmer on a light fixture labelled “Non-dimmable” will not automatically make it dimmable.

Always have compatibility checked by a qualified professional before making any modifications.

Which colour temperature should I choose?

Colour temperature is measured in kelvins (K) and describes the tone of the light:

  • 2700 K: Warm white light, ideal for creating a soft, welcoming atmosphere in a living room or bedroom.
  • 3000 K: Warm white light with a slightly less golden tone, suitable for a wide range of living spaces.
  • 4000 K: A more neutral white light, which can be suitable for workspaces or functional lighting.

These values are guidelines. Your choice should also reflect your personal preferences, the materials in your room and the atmosphere you wish to create.

For a harmonious result, avoid unintentionally mixing very different colour temperatures within the same area.

Can I change the colour temperature of my light fixture?

With a replaceable bulb, you can choose a different colour temperature by installing another compatible bulb.

With an integrated LED, the colour temperature is generally fixed by the model, unless the manufacturer provides an adjustable or selectable colour temperature.

Check this feature before purchasing: adjustable brightness does not necessarily mean that the colour temperature can also be changed.

What is the difference between lumens, watts and kelvins?

These three measurements describe different characteristics of a light source:

  • Lumens (lm) measure luminous flux, meaning the total amount of light emitted.
  • Watts (W) indicate the electrical power consumed.
  • Kelvins (K) describe the colour temperature of the light, from warm white to cooler white tones.

To compare the amount of light produced, look at the lumens rather than relying on wattage alone.

An LED can produce the same amount of light as a traditional incandescent bulb while consuming significantly less energy.

How many lumens do I need to light a room?

There is no single answer. Lighting requirements depend on the room's size, ceiling height, colours and intended use.

The way a light fixture distributes light also matters. A focused beam directed onto a desk will produce a different result from light diffused throughout an entire room.

Depending on your needs, combine general lighting, task lighting and ambient lighting to create a comfortable and balanced environment.

What do electrical protection Classes I, II and III mean?

Electrical protection classes indicate how a light fixture is protected against electric shock:

  • Class I: The light fixture must be connected to earth.
  • Class II: The fixture has double or reinforced insulation and does not require an earth connection. Its symbol consists of a square inside another square.
  • Class III: The fixture operates using safety extra-low voltage and requires a suitable power supply.

These classes are not quality ratings or energy efficiency classifications.

Always follow the manufacturer's electrical connection instructions.

What does an IP rating mean?

An IP rating indicates the level of protection provided by a light fixture's enclosure against solid objects, dust and water:

  • The first digit indicates protection against solid objects and dust.
  • The second digit indicates protection against water ingress.

Some examples:

  • IP20: Protection against solid objects measuring 12.5 mm or larger, with no declared protection against water.
  • IP44: Protection against solid objects measuring 1 mm or larger and against splashing water.
  • IP65: Dust-tight and protected against water jets, but not designed for immersion.

The IP rating must be appropriate for the installation location and environmental conditions.

Which light fixture should I choose for a bathroom or outdoor area?

Choose a model specifically approved by the manufacturer for the intended application.

In a bathroom, requirements depend particularly on the installation location in relation to the bath or shower.

For outdoor lighting, consider exposure to rain, dust and, where applicable, salty coastal air.

An IP rating alone is not sufficient to determine whether an installation is suitable. Have your choice of fixture and its installation location checked by a qualified professional.

How should I clean my light fixture?

Switch off the light fixture and allow it to cool completely. Unplug it if it has a plug. For a permanently installed fixture, switch off the power supply to the relevant circuit.

Remove dust using a soft, dry cloth. If the material and manufacturer's instructions allow it, use a very slightly damp cloth, then dry the surface thoroughly.

Never spray cleaning products directly onto the light fixture, and keep moisture away from electrical components.

Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents unless specifically recommended by the manufacturer.

Can I choose a different colour for my light fixture?

Some manufacturers offer custom colours for selected models.

When this option is available, the indication “Other colours on request” appears on the product page, below the available colour options.
