NL12 – Sculptural Refraction Pendant – DCW Editions Paris
A luminous structure with invisible mechanics
Designed by Sebastian Summa for DCW Editions, the NL12 suspension is a spectacular fusion of optical art and brutalist elegance. Made of twelve borosilicate glass tubes, only one contains the LED light source – the others relay light through prismatic refraction.
Radical minimalism, technically refined
No visible bulb, no cables. Light flows seamlessly through the aligned glass tubes, giving the impression of a pure, floating beam. Suspended by two matte black arms reminiscent of gymnastic rings, the fixture becomes a statement of balance, strength, and grace.
Post-industrial poetry for contemporary spaces
Measuring 130 cm in length, NL12 is perfect above dining tables, kitchen islands, or in open architectural spaces. Its form is sharp yet weightless – both technical and meditative, raw and polished.
High-performance materials and precision lighting
Constructed from borosilicate glass and powder-coated aluminum, NL12 outputs 4800 lumens at 2700K. The visual effect changes with each viewing angle as light dances through each carefully positioned tube.
A luminous sculpture in motion
NL12 is more than a lamp – it’s a suspended light sculpture, a masterclass in optical design. A perfect expression of physicality, restraint, and innovation, made for those who appreciate experimental, meaningful lighting.
FAQ – NL12 – DCW Editions
Who is Sebastian Summa?
A German designer known for optical experimentation and precision craftsmanship. NL12 is one of his signature innovations in light transmission.
What materials are used?
Borosilicate glass (12 tubes) and black powder-coated aluminum. No visible wires or bulbs, for a clean floating effect.
How does it light up?
Only one tube contains a hidden LED source. The other eleven carry light through prismatic refraction, producing a soft, seamless glow.
Where is NL12 best installed?
Above long dining tables, counters, or in gallery-like settings where spatial clarity and visual impact are key.
Can the tubes be repositioned?
Yes, they can be arranged to modify the angle and style of light projection according to the space.
Who is this fixture for?
Designers, collectors, and lighting connoisseurs who seek radical elegance and refined optical craftsmanship.
