Grammoluce by Martinelli Luce: when light gains weight

Grammoluce by Martinelli Luce: when light gains weight

What if light were no longer just a source, but a sensitive, almost tangible material? With Grammoluce, Martinelli Luce introduces far more than a new table lamp: a luminous experience where gesture, weight and perception become inseparable. Presented at the end of 2025, Grammoluce fits naturally into contemporary interiors that value meaning, emotion and refined design.

An experimental vision of light

An experimental vision of light

Designed by Min Dong in collaboration with Habits Design, Grammoluce is built around a simple yet radical question: what would happen if light had weight?

From this idea emerges a unique lighting object, where intensity and colour temperature are no longer controlled by a traditional dimmer, but through direct physical interaction. Light becomes responsive, alive, almost organic.

A composition of transparency and tension

A composition of transparency and tension

Visually, Grammoluce stands out for its transparent borosilicate glass structure, elegantly resting on a discreet base. Stretched across its circular edge, an elastic Lycra® membrane acts as a flexible surface. Three frosted glass spheres, each with a different diameter and weight, can be placed freely on this membrane.

Each sphere deforms the surface in a unique way, turning it into both a diffuser and a constantly changing landscape of light. The lamp does not simply emit light — it transforms.

Light shaped by gesture

The luminous experience of Grammoluce is intuitive: the greater the weight, the stronger and cooler the light; the lighter the touch, the warmer and softer the glow.

Placing one, two or three spheres is enough to subtly alter the atmosphere. Light shifts from an intimate, delicate presence to a brighter, more shared illumination, without interruption or visible technology.

This direct dialogue between hand, material and light gives Grammoluce a poetic, almost meditative dimension. The user does not adjust the light — they compose it.

A sculptural presence, even when switched off

A sculptural presence, even when switched off

When switched off, Grammoluce retains a strong sculptural identity. The transparency of the glass, the tension of the fabric and the soft, mineral presence of the spheres make it an object of quiet elegance. When illuminated, another layer is revealed: volumes soften, light seems to emerge from within the material itself.

This dual nature reinforces its architectural character and timeless appeal, true to the design philosophy of Martinelli Luce.

Designed for contemporary living spaces

Grammoluce naturally belongs in refined residential interiors, placed on a coffee table, console or desk, but it also resonates in architectural and hospitality projects where user experience is central.

It accompanies moments of calm, reading or conversation, becoming a discreet focal point — never ostentatious, yet always expressive.

A new poetic gesture by Martinelli Luce

With Grammoluce, Martinelli Luce continues its exploration of emotional and intelligent lighting, where design goes beyond form to question our relationship with objects.

Blending technical innovation, sensitive research and Italian elegance, Grammoluce embodies a durable vision of design — a light that is felt as much as it is seen, transforming every gesture into an experience.
