Grammoluce – Interactive LED table lamp with dynamic diffuse light – Martinelli Luce

A design statement where light becomes tangible

Designed by Min Dong, Grammoluce explores a poetic question: what if light had weight? The result is a table lamp that transforms everyday lighting into a tactile and emotional experience.

An intuitive system driven by weight and touch

At the core of the lamp lies an elastic Lycra® membrane stretched over a borosilicate glass structure. Three frosted glass spheres are placed on the surface, deforming the fabric and acting simultaneously as a switch and dimmer.

Three glass spheres, endless lighting variations

The lamp comes with three borosilicate glass spheres of different sizes and weights: ø60 mm (0.3 kg), ø80 mm (0.7 kg) and ø100 mm (1.3 kg). Each combination alters the light’s intensity and color.

Dynamic white LED light that adapts naturally

Using a dynamic white LED source, Grammoluce shifts from soft, warm light to brighter, cooler illumination. Light output evolves between 1800K and 3000K depending on the applied weight—no traditional dimmer required.

A sculptural object in constant evolution

The painted aluminium base, transparent glass structure and deformable membrane create a living form that changes with every interaction, making each lighting moment unique.

Sustainable materials with refined character

The sphere holder is made of FSC®-certified PaperStone®, produced from 100% recycled paper and plant-based PetroFree™ resins. Naturally pigmented, UV-resistant and extremely durable, each base has its own distinctive appearance.

A poetic vision of contemporary lighting design

As Min Dong states, the project connects form, interaction and emotion into a unique aesthetic experience—turning light into something that can be felt as well as seen.
