Jieldé 75 Years: The Titane Finish – A Tribute to Industrial Origins

Jieldé 75 Years: The Titane Finish – A Tribute to Industrial Origins

A Jubilee Edition Rooted in History

To celebrate its 75th anniversary, French lighting house Jieldé unveils a new finish: Titane.

A symbolic creation that pays tribute to the very first lamps imagined by Jean-Louis Domecq in the workshops of the 1950s.

More than a new color, Titane is a return to the brand’s origins.

The Beginning: A Lamp Designed for Workshops

The Beginning: A Lamp Designed for Workshops

In 1950, Jean-Louis Domecq designed a purely functional lamp: robust, fully adjustable and capable of rotating 360°, with no visible wiring in its articulated joints.

The first Jieldé lamps were created for mechanical workshops and industrial environments.

Their original finishes reflected that technical universe:

  • Machine Grey

  • Vespa Green

Practical, industrial tones — long before the lamp became a design icon.

1973: The Decorative Turning Point

1973: The Decorative Turning Point

It was not until 1973 that the brand experienced a major shift.

Habitat requested the Standard lamp in two new finishes: matte black and gloss white. A small revolution for Jieldé, which until then had only produced lamps in Machine Grey or Vespa Green.

This marked the brand’s official entry into the world of interior decoration and design.

The Idea of Color: A Strategic Evolution

The Idea of Color: A Strategic Evolution

The story of color at Jieldé continued to evolve.

At a pivotal moment for the company, Marie-Françoise Domecq placed her trust in Philippe Bélier to help reposition the brand. With a strong sensitivity to the world of decoration, he quickly understood that Jieldé’s future could no longer rely solely on industrial markets.

Facing a slowing industrial sector, he made a bold decision: to introduce a wide palette of finishes in order to reach the decorative lighting market.

A decisive strategic move.

Jieldé, once purely technical, became a design reference.

Color became a language — an expression of personality within a space.

75 Years Later: The Birth of Titane

75 Years Later: The Birth of Titane

The new Titane finish naturally fits into this story.

It is not a trend color, nor a purely decorative effect.

It reconnects with the raw materiality of the original workshop lamps, reinterpreted with contemporary elegance.

Its satin metallic appearance evokes:

  • industrial steel

  • workshop machinery

  • French engineering heritage

It enhances the iconic elements of the lamp:

  • the pressed steel shade

  • the spherical joints

  • the tubular arms

  • the riveted serial-number plate

Titane bridges three eras:

1950 – the workshop

1973 – decoration

2025 – the 75th anniversary

A Finish That Elevates Iconic Models

A Finish That Elevates Iconic Models

The Titane finish gives a distinctive presence to Jieldé’s most emblematic collections:

  • Loft

  • Signal

  • Dante

  • Augustin

It reinforces their technical identity while preserving modern refinement.

Neither overly glossy nor fully matte, Titane subtly reflects light depending on the environment:

  • in minimalist interiors

  • in industrial loft spaces

  • in architectural offices

  • in contemporary homes

Jieldé: 75 Years of French Craftsmanship

Jieldé: 75 Years of French Craftsmanship

Since 1950, every Jieldé lamp has been:

  • manufactured in France

  • assembled by hand

  • individually numbered

  • designed for durability

The Titane finish does not alter this quality.

It enhances it.

Choosing a Jieldé lamp in Titane means owning a piece of industrial heritage transformed into timeless design.

With Titane, Jieldé does more than celebrate an anniversary.

The brand honors its origins, its evolution and its ability to reinvent itself without losing its identity.

A finish that tells 75 years of innovation.

Timeless design.

Industrial heritage reimagined for today.
