Since 1857, Jars Céramistes has cultivated an intimate relationship with clay, light and gesture. Based in Anneyron, a small village in the South of France, the manufacture brings together a collective of highly skilled artisans who perpetuate a rare and ancestral craft: shaping stoneware by hand, creating deep and vibrant glazes, and giving life to ceramics that breathe and resonate.

With Sillage, its very first lighting collection designed by Elise Fouin, Jars opens a new artistic chapter — one where light emerges from clay, textured, pleated and sculpted like a poetic echo of the natural world.

Founded in 1857, Jars is one of France’s great historic ceramic houses.

Each day in the Anneyron workshops, artisans shape clay following a choreography of precise, repeated gestures passed down through generations.

The brand formulates its own stoneware clay from carefully sourced natural earths. Cleaned, sieved and assembled according to a secret recipe, this clay gives Jars stoneware its distinctive whiteness, ideal for enhancing the depth of the brand’s iconic glazes.

The glazes are applied by hand — ladled, brushed or delicately sprayed — before undergoing a high-temperature “grand feu” firing.
