The origin of Les Acrobates de Gras: an idea inspired by movement

As explained by the co-founder of DCW Éditions, the creation of Les Acrobates de Gras is rooted in a simple principle, true to Bernard-Albin Gras’ philosophy: for every problem, there is an intelligent solution.

Originally, Bernard-Albin Gras had never designed a pendant light. As an engineer, he believed that a wire, a bulb, and a lampshade already existed, so it was not a real design challenge. For a long time, the brand did not offer any pendant lighting, despite frequent requests.

The idea finally emerged from an unexpected moment. While watching circus acrobats, suspended in the air and passing movement from one to another with precision, it became clear: what if the solution to moving light in space came from this very motion?

This is how the concept of Les Acrobates de Gras was born — a system designed to shift and position light freely within a space, while maintaining balance, tension, and lightness.
