Michel Boucquillon: An Architect-Designer with Multidimensional Talent

Born in 1962 in Belgium, Michel Boucquillon has, from his early beginnings in architecture, established his unique style and sense of innovation in the international design scene. His journey, peppered with prestigious awards and notable collaborations, demonstrates a rare ability to meld functionality with aesthetics.

Promising Beginnings in Belgium
After obtaining his architecture degree from St. Luc Brussels in 1986, Boucquillon quickly clinched the "Van Hove” Architecture Prize in Brussels for his TGV station project. A two-year stint in Florence enriched his architectural approach, before he made a triumphant return to Belgium at just 26, winning the Architecture contest for the Hémicycle of the European Parliament in Brussels. Beyond its architectural scope, this project marked his initial foray into interior design as he also crafted its furnishings.

Transitioning to Design
This emblematic project unlocked the gates of the design world for him. Renowned companies like VALLI e VALLI, TECHNOLUX, and TECNO tapped into his creativity. Whether it's handles, lamps, or furniture, Boucquillon exhibited versatility and a vision that set him apart. In 2000, he took a significant leap by opening his own product-design firm in Italy, a country acclaimed for its design excellence. International recognition led him, in 2001, to represent Belgium at conferences on international design at the University of Montreal.

Award-winning Creations
His prowess hasn't gone unnoticed. In 2005, he received the "DESIGN PLUS” award in Frankfurt for his "STRIP” basin designed for AQUAMASS. Come 2007, he was honored in Chicago, securing the "GOOD DESIGN” award for the "UNIQUE” cutlery set conceived for AUERHAHN.

Contemporary Collaborations
Currently based in Lucca, Tuscany, Michel Boucquillon continues to collaborate with elite companies. Among them are ARTEMIDE, AQUAMASS, AUERHAHN, MARTINELLI LUCE, SERRALUNGA, TECNO, TECNOLUX, VALLI ARREDOBAGNO, and VCR. For MARTINELLI LUCE, he notably designed the "Pin" and "Cellule" models—pieces that resonate with his unwavering commitment to innovation and aesthetic excellence.
