A Radiant Career
With his professional beginnings as a technical illustrator during his national service, Grange meticulously carved his way to recognition in the field of industrial product design. By co-founding Pentagram, which would become a world-renowned design firm, he not only established his name but also his influence, extending from America to Germany. Over time, Grange reshaped our everyday perception by redesigning familiar objects, from Kenwood mixers to Parker pens, and from the InterCity 125 train to the Royal Mail's regional mailboxes.
Shining a Light on Anglepoise
"He is the godfather of British modernism with a classical twist," say Alyn Griffiths and Sam Rogers of him. Describing Anglepoise as a "small miracle of balance," Grange took on the role of Design Director in 2003. His first creation, the Type 3™ desk lamp, laid the foundation for his exploration into creating lighting fixtures that, through their simplicity, functionality, and aesthetics, generated a deep sense of satisfaction.
