It all began in 1855, the company was then called Herbert Terry and Sons Ltd, and produced springs and castings for the trade.
It was in 1931 that the engineer George Carwardine developed a concept to balance weights using the famous springs,
and by chance he proposes to create an articulated lamp that will combine flexibility and balance.
It is thanks to this pioneering mechanism developed in the 1930s and this incomparable shape that the patent was filed in 1933.
Over the years the lamp is refined and re-exploited over the years and fashions!
For over 70 years, Anglepoise has created table lamps that are now classics of British design.
Anglepoise lamps are trendy creations.
With their inimitable style, the products adapt to different decorations.
Design metal wall lights, industrial style desk lamps but also aluminum pendant lights form part of their collection.
From the creation of the Original 1227 ™ lamp,
the development of the extended collections by the famous designer of industrial products Sir Kenneth Grange,
recent collaborations with renowned designers Paul Smith and Margaret Howell,
unmistakable British design remains at the heart of this progressive British brand.
Today Anglepoise lamps are found today
in homes and offices, restaurants, bars and hotels in over 50 countries.
